From DIY Artist to Digital Strategist: The Journey Behind the Lens

Most people see me today as a digital marketing strategist and content creator with over 20 years of experience. But my journey didn’t start in a boardroom or a marketing agency. It started with a 17-year-old kid with a dream, an uncanny way with words, and a problem.

 

Back then, I wanted to be a rapper. I quickly realized that talent alone wasn't enough—you need a brand. Since I couldn't afford to hire a team, I became one.

  • I wanted a specific sound, so I taught myself music production.

  • I wanted a specific aesthetic, so I taught myself graphic design and photography.

  • I needed a digital home, so I taught myself web design and video editing.

​

What began as a necessity became a lifelong obsession with the "how" and "why" of digital storytelling.

The Great Pivot
At age 30, I made a bold choice. I walked away from a safe career track in project management to hit the reset button. I started over as a pro audio salesman at Guitar Center, determined to turn my creative passions into a professional marketing career.

Since that pivot, I’ve had the privilege of driving marketing results across a massive range of industries—from e-commerce and mortgage to higher education and healthcare.
